Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about me, my policies, or my process? Check below to see if I've answered it!

What are your rates?

My current rate is $200/hour (used to calculate shorter or odd sessions)

A half day would be $600 (3 hours with breaks)

A full day appointment is $1000 (5 hours with breaks)

My day starts at 12:30pm and goes until 7:00pm

ANY PROJECT ALREADY IN PROGRESS WITH A PREVIOUS RATE WILL NOT BE AFFECTED BY THE CHANGE

How do I book an appointment?

All prospective clients must fill out a submission form on the homepage

Please fill out the form completely and answer each question with as much information and depth as possible. Short or vague submissions, especially concerning the design and placement of the tattoo, MAY NOT result in acceptance of the tattoo and reply.

A deposit is required for each tattoo

Most projects will require a 2 hour deposit of $320 (some projects may only need a $160 deposit)

Deposits can be dropped off in person at the studio as cash, or handled digitally as a Venmo transaction (with plans to alter the handling of digital transactions in the future)

*ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE*

This is to protect the heavy amount of time, work, and investment that I put into each project.

Deposits can be transferred when rescheduling an appointment. To reschedule, please email flatfishtats@gmail.com when communicating about an appointment. Rescheduling within 5 days may result in the forfeiture of your deposit and a new deposit be laid out for the appointment.

How long does it take to receive a reply?

Patience!! I am the only person working through the submissions and responses, and I try to craft in depth responses for every submission I accept, so it may take a few days to multiple weeks before you receive a reply. Response time may vary depending on the booking period. If you have not received a response from a pervious submission, please do not lose hope or think that I have ignored you. I may not be able to take every project submitted, and my time is limited. I try to choose projects that I am best suited for, or that interest me.

What about coverups?

I take on coverups on a case by case basis, and each coverup must be assessed in person to determine feasibility of the project. I do not do coverups often.

When will I see my design?

I typically draw for each project the night or day before the appointment. This means I rarely am in a position where clients get to see a preview of the design. This is where trust between myself and the client definitely comes into play - I put a lot of effort into each design and try to keep a stylistic through-line from one tattoo to the next. If you like the way my prior tattoos look, congrats! You'll get a rad tattoo that has a similar style and feeling to it.

What do you like to tattoo?

I've been enjoying crafting large scale images of skulls, florals, ladies, creatures, and things that have an occult / mystique vibe to them. I prefer to work with clients and projects that give me a lot of freedom with the final design and elements.

What is your mask policy?

Masking requirements are based on CDC recommendations and the local county hospitalization rates per COVID cases.

If you have symptoms of sickness PLEASE NOTIFY ME! I may ask that you reschedule the appointment to ensure everyone's health. If your symptoms are mild, I will require that you wear a mask for the entirely of your duration within the studio for the appointment.

What is your late policy?

If you are running late to your appointment or cannot make it to the appointment, please call the studio at 607-217-4040 to provide an update and estimation of arrival. If you are more than 25 minutes late to an appointment, you may be subject to partial or complete forfeiture of your deposit. I put a lot of effort into booking and drawing for each appointment, and expect each client to arrive in a timely manner and be communicative about changes in arrival.
